Upgrade Program:
Four Core Competencies in AOD to Certificate IV in AOD

This course provides candidates with a full qualification in Alcohol and Other Drugs and is recommended as the minimum qualification to work in the AOD sector.

Pre-requisites
For this course you will need to have completed the Four Core Competencies in Alcohol & Other Drugs within the last four years.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Candidates may apply for recognition of prior learning for one or more units. Please see the student handbook for more information. Please be aware that evidence submitted for RPL cannot be returned. Applicants are encouraged to keep copies of their whole portfolio.

Course Description
Participants will gain further skills, understanding and knowledge of how to effectively work in the sector, to work with and assist clients and maintain effective and protective work practices.

Assessment Strategies include:
Case scenarios & studies, short answer tests & essays, simulations, quizzes, referral & treatment planning exercises, interviews & scripted role-plays.

First Aid
Candidates are required to have HLTFA1A - Apply basic First Aid or HLTFA2A - Apply advanced First Aid to receive their certificate. WRT does not provide First Aid training therefore any candidate needing either of these First Aid units will need to obtain them from an external provider.

  • Statutory requirements for AOD workers and agencies across states
  • Workplace policy and OH&S
  • Diverse Clients - Gender, Sexuality and CALD
  • Orientation to Mental Health
