Odyssey House Victoria is a Registered Training Organisation providing flexible delivery of nationally accredited training with online support in the form of manuals, learning materials and assessments as well as support via telephone, emails and forums. The format is similar to 'distance learning' and requires good time management skills.

Workshop: Family Inclusive Practice


This workshop provides the skills and knowledge required to work with multiple members of a family where substance use and other complex issues may be present.

This includes defining a family in a broad context and includes working with children, to establish a professional relationship where family needs are assessed and addressed.

Topics presented include:

  • Implement engagement strategies with family members
  • Assess individual and family needs
  • Respond to individual needs of family members
  • Collaborate with specialist services to respond to family needs
  • Facilitate case closure with family members

Target Audience:
The course is for workers in alcohol and other drugs, health and allied services dealing with clients affected by alcohol and other drug misuse. Examples include: Youth drop-in centres, crisis centres, community health centres, police, harm reduction services, alcohol and other drugs services and mental health services.
